Services we provide
Access Audit
The Equality Act 2010 is not compliance based and not prescriptive in its requirements; however, it does refer to Reasonable Adjustment. It can be difficult for service providers to determine what is reasonable and what is not. An Access Audit helps you to understand your obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and forms the basis of a plan of action to enable you to improve accessibility.

Our Audit will generally cover all elements of your building and environment following the ‘journey’ of a disabled user. Typically, an audit would cover:

• Approach and Car Parking
• Entrances
• Receptions
• Horizontal Circulation – corridors
• Lifts and Stairs
• Internal Doors
• Toilets
• Signage and Way-finding
• Communication
• Means of Escape for Disabled People

As part of the audit service, we will help you to understand the term Reasonable Adjustment, we will provide you with practical assistance, practical recommendations for improvement based on current regulation and advice. The scope of the audit will depend on how the Equality Act applies to you, which we will discuss and agree with you in full.
Design Advice
Getting an access consultant involved in your design team/project has a number of benefits.

1. Ensuring your project delivers its contractual responsibilities
2. Supporting the design team with statutory applications
3. Meeting your legal obligations
4. Increased levels of compliance with design standards
5. Auditable decision-making regarding access and inclusive design
6. Delivering a better-quality design for people who will use the building

For smaller projects, our consultants can provide a ‘sense check’ of the design before it gets built, to avoid costly errors and the risk of retrofit. If you’re looking to capitalise on the benefits of inclusive design, as well as ensure your organisation is meeting its legal obligations, then Jamie Hanlon can help.
Walk & Talk Service
Our Access Advisor can visit your premises and give feedback on all accessibility aspects of your business. We can help you priorities any action points to form your Access Statement.
General Advice
We offer lots of specific services, but sometimes what a client needs do not fit within the typical services. We have been asked many questions in the past. As far as we are concerned the only silly question is the one that does not get asked.
